Topography Generator

Lay out a survey grid on satellite imagery — and capture an elevation for every point.

Load your KMZ or KML boundary, click the corners of the survey area, and set the number of lines, points per line and spacing. The Topography Generator places a precise, numbered grid across the site — even on skewed or irregular sites — then looks up the elevation of every point in fast, automatic batches.

  • Up to 224 points per line and 100 lines per grid
  • Four-corner layout that fits the grid to your site, or exact spacing you set
  • Freeform mode for up to 100 spot points, placed with a click
  • Jump to any address, decimal coordinates or degrees-minutes-seconds
  • Optional weather readout for the survey area
Exports KML for Google Earth Elevation CSV

Terrain File Generator

Turn a spreadsheet of elevations into clean TRN terrain files — in seconds.

Import a CSV or Excel file, or paste your elevations straight in. Enter the electrode count and spacing, and the Terrain File Generator writes a correctly formatted TRN file for every survey line — so topographic correction in your resistivity inversions never holds up the report.

  • 1 to 224 electrodes per line, at spacings from 0.25 m to 100 m
  • Multi-line spreadsheets split into separate files automatically
  • Correct decimal places for whole, half and quarter-meter spacing
  • Optional terrain header, switched on or off with one click
  • Manual entry for quick, single-line jobs
Exports TRN terrain files ZIP of every line

Image Processor

Crop a whole survey’s worth of images in one pass — and get a print-ready PDF.

Select every inversion image from a job at once. The Image Processor finds each plot, trims away excess whitespace and borders while keeping titles intact, and sorts the results by name. Download images one by one, or export everything as a ZIP with a high-resolution PDF contact sheet for your report appendix.

  • Batch processing — select dozens of images at once
  • Automatic trimming of whitespace and borders
  • Smart name sorting, so Line 2 comes before Line 10
  • PDF contact sheet with 21 labeled images per page
  • Lossless PNG output — every pixel preserved

Pad construction

Coming soon online

Cut & Fill Estimator

Outline a pad. Get balanced cut and fill volumes and a client-ready report.

Upload a KML or KMZ pad boundary, or trace one freehand over satellite imagery — with a mouse, or an Apple Pencil on iPad. The Cut & Fill Estimator samples the terrain, models the pad and its side slopes on a 2.5-foot grid, and finds the pad elevation where cut and fill balance. Fine-tune the result, review the cross-sections, and export a one-page report.

  • Automatic balanced pad elevation, adjustable in 0.25 ft steps
  • Side slopes matched to the ground — 3H:1V standard, flatter for deep grading
  • Three adjustable cross-sections: A–A′, B–B′ and C–C′
  • Cut, fill and net volumes in cubic yards, plus pad area and relief
  • Report location block — coordinates and county — filled in for you

How it works

From first stake to final report.

Here’s how a typical project moves through the suite. Start wherever your job starts — every tool also works on its own.

  1. Step 1: Plan the survey

Lay out survey lines on the map, number every point, and export elevations.

    Topography Generator
  2. Step 2: Prepare terrain files

Turn elevations into TRN files so every inversion accounts for the lay of the land.

    Terrain File Generator
  3. Step 3: Build the report

Crop the inversion images and lay them out on a clean, print-ready PDF sheet.

    Image Processor
  4. Step 4: Plan the pad

Balance cut and fill, review the cross-sections, and hand off a one-page report.

    Cut & Fill Estimator

Precision where it counts.

The numbers behind the suite — built for real survey lines, real pads and real reports.

  • 224points per survey line
  • 100lines in a single survey grid
  • 2.5ftcut & fill modeling grid
  • 8decimal places on every coordinate

Why Red Rocks

Built for the people who do the work.

Field software should be as dependable as the rest of your gear. Every tool in the suite is built around clear controls, trustworthy numbers, and files that fit the way you already work.

  • Nothing to install

Every tool opens in a modern web browser. No downloads, no administrator rights, no waiting on IT.

  • Clear, simple controls

Plain-language labels, large buttons and built-in Quick Tips on every screen, so new crew members pick it up fast.

  • Your files stay yours

Spreadsheets, images and boundaries are processed on your own computer or tablet — never stored on our servers.

  • Standard file formats

KML/KMZ, CSV, Excel, TRN, PNG and PDF — files that open in Google Earth, spreadsheets and the software you already use.

  • In the office or the field

Layouts adapt to laptops and tablets, and the Cut & Fill Estimator lets you trace a pad boundary with an Apple Pencil.

  • Numbers you can stand behind

Coordinates to eight decimal places, elevations to four, and earthwork modeled on a 2.5-foot grid.

Made for teams that read the ground and move the dirt.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Don’t see your question here? Call (469) 245-9044 and ask us directly.

When will the suite be available online?

Soon. All four tools are coming to rrdyn.com. Until the suite launches, call or text (469) 245-9044 to request a demo or an individual survey.

Will commercial licenses be available?

Yes. Commercial licenses will be available soon. In the meantime, call (469) 245-9044 with questions or to request a demo.

Can I see the software before it launches?

Yes. Call (469) 245-9044 to schedule a live demo of any tool in the suite.

Can I request a survey before the suite launches?

Yes. Call (469) 245-9044 to request an individual survey for your project. We’ll talk through your site and what you need.

Will I need to install anything?

No. Once the suite launches, every tool runs right in a modern web browser such as Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox. There’s nothing to download, and no administrator rights are needed.

What devices can I use?

Windows and Mac computers, plus tablets such as the iPad. The Cut & Fill Estimator even lets you trace a pad boundary with an Apple Pencil. For large surveys, a laptop or desktop gives you the most room to work.

Do I need an internet connection?

Yes. The map-based tools use live satellite imagery and elevation data, so they need a connection while you work. The Terrain File Generator and Image Processor are lightweight and run well on an ordinary connection.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. Your spreadsheets, images and boundaries are processed right on your own device and are never stored on our servers. The map-based tools send only the locations they need to retrieve imagery and elevations.

Which file types does the suite work with?

It reads KML and KMZ boundaries, CSV and Excel spreadsheets, and common image formats such as PNG and JPG. It creates KML and KMZ files for Google Earth, CSV spreadsheets, TRN terrain files, PNG images, PDF reports and ZIP bundles.

Can you add a feature my team needs?

Tell us about it. Give us a call and walk us through your workflow — we’re always looking for ways to make the tools more useful in the field.
